One of the first little DIY projects I did in our house that made a big impact was in our master bathroom. It was a couple months after we had moved in – long before I started this blog. Since it’s something we see and use every day, I thought it was time to actually share it. Read on for some little ways to make your own bathroom feel fancy!
First, we have an extremely large vanity. It is somewhere near 80 inches long. Trying to figure out how to find a vanity that length was impossible but that’s a story for another time. We did consider separating our his and her sink spaces with a linen closet but I really wanted a window for natural light. Anyway, once we moved in, we had mouthwash and a tissue box in that long middle space and I was always going into one of Landon’s drawers for q-tips. After awhile, I decided to put them all on display but make them look nicer!
DIY Marble Lazy Susan
I remember seeing marble Lazy Susans everywhere but didn’t really want to spend a ton on one. I ended up purchasing this wood one from Ikea and some marble contact paper. You can sort of see on the reverse side how I worked the contact paper around the circular edge by cutting little slits and folding them over. It’s not perfect but it has worked well for us. I also spent half as much as one I had been looking at and this one was a lot bigger too!
Get a glass jar for your mouthwash
The next thing I did was buy a decorative jar (with a lid!) for our mouthwash. This made such a huge impact for only a few bucks spent at Hobby Lobby! Even if you keep your mouthwash in a cabinet, use a pretty jar. It will make you feel so regal every time you work on your oral hygiene. ?
Use another jar for q-tips
Lastly, I love that q-tips come in so many cute colors – especially the turquoise since it matches my house! So I had to display those in a jar too. I found this one at the Container Store and I use a cut up paper towel roll to help keep the q-tips upright. Honestly, stocking this jar is way harder than I ever thought it would be! You could also use a jar for cotton balls or any other bathroom necessities. (Side note: we do have a gold ring around the lid handle – it’s Landon’s fake wedding ring he wore on our honeymoon and wears when he goes fishing. It got put there once and we just made it permanent ?)
There you have it. I hope this inspires you to think creatively for ways to make your own bathroom feel fancy! If you’d like to see more bathroom ideas, I have extremely inexpensive art I hung on the other side of our bathroom and a full decor tour of our glam guest bathroom.
