I love showers. Let me just proclaim that to all the internet. I also love thunderstorms. They are similar if you think about it. One cleans your car and the other cleans you. ?
Speaking of cleaning, I have made my own makeup remover but what about the rest of the body? I made my own DIY body wash a few months ago and decided I really liked it. And since I was running low, I made some more with a tutorial!
What is so great about this DIY body wash versus what you can buy at the store? Glad you asked! This does not contain any harmful chemicals. (You can check your current body wash ranking by the Environmental Working Group here. You might be surprised by what you find.) This body wash uses castile soap which is a safe, all natural plant-based soap. The other few ingredients are also safe and natural to use.
Ingredients
1/2 cup castile soap (can use scented or unscented)
4 tablespoons vegetable glycerin
3 tablespoons fractionated coconut oil (that’s the liquid stuff)
10 drops of essential oils
Directions
Mix all ingredients together and pour into an 8oz pump bottle. That’s it!
I have lavender castile soap so I used just a few drops of lavender essential oils. This time I also added a little vanilla with it to change it up. I want to get unscented castile soap so next time I can mix it with lime or orange essential oil for a more invigorating scent.
Tip: it’s best to give the bottle a little shake before pumping the body wash for use. You may feel that it dries your skin out the first few times you use it. I haven’t been able to find an explanation as to why that happens but it does go away and the coconut oil works as a moisturizer. I have super dry and sensitive skin and it has not bothered me at all, whereas commercial body washed would irritate me all the time.
Now go get clean!
